Within 10-15 minutes you can easily walk into Ryde high street for shopping (supermarket, major banks, wine bars and cafes) and there is also a small cinema. The major shopping centre for the Island is Newport, which is approximately 20-30 minutes drive.Activity holidays:
We are ideally placed for those who want to bring a boat to sail - see links page for Ryde Harbour. In five minutes you could be exploring the Solent or even sail round the island for the day. There are also passenger fishing/day trips. Our apartments are also ideal for walkers and cyclists - take the train from Ryde to Sandown/Shanklin or the Island bus service to get to your chosen start destinations. Cycle hire is available from many places - see links page for a recommendation. There are eight golf courses on the Island (9-18 holes) and Ryde golf course in Binstead welcomes visitors (just on the outskirts of Ryde).
Eating out:
For excellent eating out you will be really spoiled for choice in Ryde and the Isle of Wight generally; much food produce is locally home grown and the Isle of Wight boasts its share of top star chefs. Local pub and café food is excellent but for an evening out we particularly enjoy Liberty's and Joe's in Union Street, or Michaelangelo's authentic Italian food in St Thomas Street (Ryde Seafront). Great cocktails can be found at The Black Sheep and Liberty's (Union St), and the JD Wetherspoon (chain) pub at the top of Union Street is always very lively. For very special occasions, The Seaview hotel and Priory Bay hotel (in Seaview) are 5-10 minutes drive/taxi away and are the really top notch places to eat .
